I am not directly related to the Champlin family. My grandfather's sister married Robert Melvin Champlin.I noticed that you are the "source" for entries to the "Family Tree" at rootsweb, and probably other places as well.I can add a bit of information for you, as follows:
Robert Melvin Champlin, b. 10 Nov 1868 in NY. d. 20 Dec 1950 in Jamestown, Cloud Co., KS. Married Bessie E. Hogue Doak on 6 Jun 1906 (Bk J, Pg 329, Cloud Co., Ks records). They were married at Concordia. They had 3 children; Robert Jr. b. 22 Feb 1907, Jamestown, and d. Feb 1973 in Colorado; Neal, b. 9 Aug 1908 at Jamestown and d. 16 Dec 2001 at Jamestown; Ruby Lucille b. 21 Nov 1910 at Jamestownand d. 5 Mar 1982 in Cloud County.Ruby married Delmer Byron Dotson in Concordia 6 Nov 1930.
Bessie E. Hogue 1st married Minard Doak at Jamestown on 22 Dec 1897 (Bk G, pg 325).She was b. 16 Oct 1880 in Putnam Co., Missouri, and d. 30 Apr 1912.Three children were b. to Minard (Minor) and Bessie; Myrtle, Feb 1899, Earl, 1901, and Edwin, 1903.
It's a bit of a sad story.Bessie Hogue's father, John H. Hogue died of consumption in 1884 (age 32) when Bessie was 4 years old.She married Minard Doak and he died of Typhoid fever in 1902 when she was 22 years old, and then she, while visiting her mother in Concordia suffered a ruptured appendix and died of peritonitis in 1912 at the age of 31.She is buried in the Summit (Doc Moore's) cemetery a few miles out of Jamestown, and Robert Champlin is buried in the Champlin section of the Jamestown Cemetery.George, Adaline, and other Champlin's are buried there also.
I do not need additional information, and only hope that the above fills in some gaps for you.......
