Your Ben has to be my great grandmother Leno Chatterson's brother. He was born Dec. 24, 1889 in Three Oaks and was one of at least seven children, only four of whom survived to adulthood: Leno Sheldon, Freeman Monroe Chatterson, who changed his name to Cramer, and Elno May Tatro. I know that Ben and Uncle Roe, as my father called him, lived in Clinton, Iowa, and I have received cemetery information for both of them. Your Benjamin was married to a Minnie Stahl of Michigan City, Indiana, before he moved to Iowa. He had children with her, but I have no idea what became of them. I assume your grandmother was Pearl, who is buried with Benjamin in Clinton?? Both Freeman Monroe (who had to have been named for Mary Amelia Spencer Chatterson's father, Freeman Monroe Spencer (Feb. 28, 1821-July 2, 1872). His wife was Elizabeth Hall, born Aug. 26, 1828. She was the first school teacher in Silver Creek Twp., Cass County, Michigan. Her parents were James and Mahala Enloes Hall. James fought in the war of 1812.
