Hello Cliff, thanks for responding. I am not looking for any one specific individual in MD, I have found several inferences that others in MD, Hartford & Baltimore Counties & elsewhere, were awarded land in Florida and possibly Georgia due to their service in the Rev. War. Some of the same names show up in the SE after 1800, and as you know, we have not been able to track any of them back to NC, so I have begun looking at VA and MD, especially any that just dissappeard. I recently discovered a Christopher Chancey, in the Army, in Texas in the 1850 census. He said he was from MD.
In Anne Arundel Co. MD, there were several family names there in 1790, that I do not find in 1800...then, some of these names are in Bladen County NC in 1800. May or may not be the same people, but I decided to try and build a data base for the VA and MD Chancy/Chancey/Chauncey surnames in each state for the 1700s and 1800s. There appears to be little online data for the MD families...no one else appears to be attempting to research any of them. Here are some of the ones I have found on the net, if you would ,like to add anything to this, that would be good, but your old stuff is on paper and packed away I'm sure...so, I don't want you to dig out a bunch of old stuff just for this hit or miss project.
