I (and others) have tried to match up some of the other Maine Chauncey's with the known immigrant Charles Chauncey of Massachusetts without any success at all.
I have read where there were other Chauncey immigrants besides Charles and were in or came to Maine from England and/or Canada.
Only these three Chauncey's were enumerated in Maine in 1790 & 1800.
1790 Reuben Chauncey Wells, York, ME Joseph Chauncey Wells, York, ME Charles, Esq Chancy Kittery, York, ME
1800 Reubin Chancy Limington, York, ME (Charles Chauncey Esq is now in Portsmouth, Rockingham, New Hampshire). Joseph has moved or passed away. His grandfather, Charles Chauncey was born in England, a son of Charles and Catherine Eyre prior to their relocation to America. The grandfather was also an immigrant.
I am beginning to think Reuben Chauncey may have been Isaac's father.
The given name of Reubin does not show up anywhere in the general descendent's of Charles Chauncey, our main immigrant. These Chauncey's were very big on carrying on the family names
There appears to have been Chancey and/or Chauncey immigrants to Canada and Newfoundland as well.
