Dear Becky (Cousin Becky?):I'm a 7th generation Cheeseman in the U.S.I have been the keeper of our family history for a number of years now.Our line of Cheeseman(s) come from a Charles Cheeseman and a Robert Cheeseman, two sons, of a John and Mary Cheeseman of Tunbridge Mill in England. The two sons (Charles and Robert) came to America sometime just after the American revolution. While I am not 100% certain, I have some notes which indicates that John Cheeseman (who remained in the U.K.) was, at least for some period of time, a carpenter on an English ship or ship(s).A few years ago, I met a gentleman from England who was familiar with the area of Tunbridge Mill and he told me that there were indeed a great many Cheesemans still living in that area.
If you'd like to search a bit further, I'd be happy to offer whatever help that I can.Just let me know.Good luck in your search.
BTW, I'm 50 years old, married for 25 years and I have a son (David Shiley Cheeseman) who is just a couple of years younger than you.:)
