The 1881 census indicates that Amy was of Scottish descent.Do you have any more info like when the family came over from Scotland, etc.?How far back have you traced them?
Do you do most of your rooting "on line"?I feel quite disconnected living down here in Florida.Everything I do has to be "on line" for me for the time being.
Arthur Levi Graves was the son of Samuil Graves (b 1832) and his wife Huldah (b. approx 1835).Both parents were of English descent and born in Nova Scotia.Arthur was born in 1870 (approximately) and died in 1953 or 1954.He was from Digby. His father was a farm labourer.Arthur had an older sister named Sophronia and a younger brother named Phineas. He also had, according to my father's cousin, another brother named Avard who moved to California at some point never to be heard from again. In the 1881 census, a Clara J. Graves is also listed in the Samuil Graves househould. She was 9 years older than Sophronia per the census. We have no idea who she could be.Edith and her children never mentioned a Clara.
Unfortunately, I don't know about Herbert's parents.Herbert was born approximately 1851.As I mentioned in my previous post, I know where he and Amy are buried, and the next time I am in Massachusetts (at least a year away at this point), I plan to drive out to the cemetary and see what their gravestones have to say with regard to dates.
Please keep in touch.I would love to hear about anything pertaining to this part of the family, as well as any tips you might be willing to pass along to me as to how to do research remotely.
Thank you again for your generous supply of information!
