My name is Marcos and I am making a historial research about the early Evangelical missionaries to Spain. One of these, who played a very important role, was George Jesse Chesterman, born in Sheffield in 27 March 1854, and baptized as an adult by inmersion in 1 May 1870, in Sheffield. He came to Spain as a missionary with the Christian Brethren assemblies, a group very similar to Baptists. He married to Miss Elizabeth Payne of Devon in 13 November 1878 in Yeovil, Devon. He had a brother, William T. Chesterman, born 13 January 1856 in Sheffield, who married Miss Lizzie Clapton de Merveilleux. George Chesterman had three daughters, who did not marry. I have found a close relative of them, a niece, called Miss Elizabeth Davis, retired missionary of Angola. But I would like to know if anyone out there could know more things about this family, and the Paynes too, apart from this very kind Miss Davis has told me and the letters I have read about them in Echoes of Service offices in Bath, the town where the missionary service group the Chestermans were connected is.
