Grove. Glad I have been of some help. I have heard about the 1st Coleby who was about 15 years old (born 1735) and was part of an expedition thru the Cumberland Gap with I think Boone. He was in the French and Indian wars and died at FT Duquesne. 1758..His brother James, is the father of my Ohio Joseph and your Coleby (father of Mary). My Joseph had 10 children and one son was named Coleby, He never married and died here in about 1860s. There has been some discussion about the 1st Coleby, (the explorer) on this forum. Do a name search."The Genealogy of Chew" is a accurate listing of the 3 Chew lines, all families, their children and who they married, and all dates of birth , marriage, and deaths. It stops when a daughter marries into some other family. So the only info shown is Marymarried Thomas Pepple 12/7/1808. It does show Mary was married a second time to Andrew Davisson. The book follows the Virginia line of Chews up to the 1860s and stops. If you want to research Chews, it is the only book that has about everything. Just Goggle "The Genealogy of Chew" by Robert Chew.About 70 miles West of here, a lot of Chews settled. They are Virginia, Penn. and New York Chews. The three main branches. That area was a big Quaker area which they migrated to and then on into Ind, Illinois, and Iowa. We are part of the Revolutionary War Land Grant area and thats what brought the Virginians here. I check this fourm several times a week and it is nice to see some activity here. I have met a few relatives here.BobRoss County Ohio
