Chewning/Tuning (son of Joseph Chewning b.1807 in Albermarle Co., VA and Lorinda Page b. abt 1813 in Nelson Co. VA), and Mary Hannah Curry settled in the Roswell & Parma areas of Idaho.James Alexander Tuning b.6 Sep 1874 In McDowell, Highland Co., VA, d.30 Mar 1964, Canyon County, Idaho; and Samuel Gilbert Tuning, b. Sep 1877 in Ritchie Co., W VA, d. ? 3 Aug 1976 in Canyon County, Idaho.
Their father, Albert H. Chewning/Tuning, b.30 Jun 1842 in Nelson Co., VA, d.10 Mar 1928 in Ocoya, Livingston Co., IL fought under Gen. Pickett at Gettysburg.
His brother, Charles H. Chewning/Tuning b.18 Apr 1832 in Nelson Co., VA, d.21 May 1904 in Ritchie Co., W VA was in Co. B, 31st VA Infantry, CSA
Another brother, George Washington Chewning/Tuning b.14 Apr 1838, Nelson Co. VA, d.1923 in Fayette Co., PA was also in Co. B, 31st VA Inf., CSA
