Isaac and Jane/Jean Scott Chrisman's children:Two unknown children, possibly oldest sons?, that were killed w/Isaac by Indians; Isaac 25 Nov 1767 (married Judah Wallen) Gabriel (his dob later) who married Jane Cox; Nimrod (married Milly Marcum); Margaret (married John VanBebber) and two other daughters unnamed."Evidence of three daughters by entries made by George Chrisman, brother of the elder Isaac, in settling their father (Jacob/Magdalena) will in allowances for the children of Isaac named three daughters but not by name" (Quote from the Glen Chrisman 1983 book: The Christman/Chrisman Genealogy) and I have seen a copy of the entries.
I have tried for years to discover the names of the other two daughters but cannot prove any.I have thought one could possibly have been married to a Lewis but, again, no proof.
The Catherine or Anna Catherine that married Frederick Schell is NOT daughter of Isaac and Jane Scott Chrisman. She is (I THINK) d/o Johannes Chrisman b 1734 in PA and Maria Magdalena last name unknown b 1744 maybe Maryland. He died 1805 Sullivan Co., TN and she 1824 in TN.Anna I think was their second child.I have not researched her any further because she is not of my line.
Now, back to birth date of Isaac's brother Gabriel of the same year.Obviously it cannot be so; well I guess it could be if they were NINE months apart - far fetched but possible. For years we have used Gabriel's date of birth as 7 Oct 1767.When the bible information came to light for his brother Isaac, referencing post number 875 on this forum, none of us (yet) have been able to substantiate OUR 1767 dob for Gabriel.I am not sure, but I believe it may have stemmed from the 1889/90 journals and family history of John F. Chrisman, son of Peter F. Chrisman, (gr-gr- grandson of Isaac and Jane Scott Chrisman) and used in the little book: "Chrisman's Virginia to Oregon" I do not have the date of its publication but I obtained a copy in 1998 from one of its author's son.It was written after the 1983 Glen Chrisman book, however. We Gabriel descendants will just have to come up with his correct(?) birth date someday.
The proof of the one known daughter of Isaac and Jane Scott Chrisman:Margaret, was found about 10 years ago - or at least I discovered it by coming upon some VanBebber newsletters on the net and the documentation of her husband John trying to claim any inheritance from estate of her father.... "to ask demand recover or receive of and from Archibald Scot administator of Isaac Crisman (sic) deceased and Jinny Crisman administratrix of Isaac Crisman deceased all my lawful part of the estate of said Isaac Crisman deceased - - which I am entitled to by lawfully marrying his oldest daughter Margaret Crisman who is justly and lawfully entitled to an equal share of distribtuion of sd . . ." it was dated 1814 registered 13 day of Aug 1814. I have no idea why he waited so long - surely the estate had already been settled?Perhaps he was in financial straits?
My great-grandfather is Samuel Chrisman and HIS brother James Monroe (their parents are Gabriel Chrisman and Jane Cox) is the ancestor of Tim McGraw.
