Joyce T. Yes, I know all about our Hugh Christison. We have to be related.I went to Edinbourough and here is what I found.William and Anne Webster had six children. William, 14 Aug. 1817: Hugh, 25 Apr. 1819, Robert, 12 April 1821, George, 16 Jan 1823 and Martha 1 may, 1825. All were born in Edzell except William who was born in Fyvie, Aberdeen. The spelling on Williams registration is Christieson, as is his father William. However, by Hugh, it was Christison.I have been unable to find the marriage registration of William and Anne, but the lDS records indicate that some of the marriage registrations in Fyvie were lost, and I wonder if that is why they are not on record.Anyway, Hugh and Mary were married in Glasgow, then moved to Fallkirk, where my great grandfather Hugh James was born.As far as I can find, he may have been their only child. If so, he is your great grandfather,If not, then there may have been more children. When Hugh James was twelve, his mother died of cancer and six months later, his father was found dead in his bed. This was in 1872 ( I have all the dates)At that time, Hugh James came to the States, settled in Massachusetts, and married twice: once to Lavenia Fitch French and after her death, to Bessie Smith.I am his son Hugh's granddaughter.Hugh James never really talked about his backgroung and as of yet I still don't know how he came to the united states.Maybe if Hugh and Mary had other children, he came with them, but my father and uncles never new how he got here.Anyway, does this help? There were a lot of Christison's in Edzell, and it has taken a lot of effort to make sure this is accurate,Also, there are a great many Hugh and William Christison.I have the records, and at least know that this is accurate. So, let me know how we are related. Are you related to Hugh James Christison?
