I have read Sharon Leichty's postings with great interest and I have not found a connection of my ancestor, Samuel Chubb, 1818-February 25, 1903, to her Henry Tschopp/Chupp family. Samuel Chubb and his first wife, Hannah Lutz, were living in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County, PA at the time of the 1850 census. They moved to Lower Paxton Township in the 1850's and Hannah died in 1858.He and Hannah had five children: Jacob Chubb, born about 1844, and who died before his father's will was written in 1898; Samuel Chubb, born August 27, 1845, died June 27, 1865; Elizabeth Chubb, born December 2, 1847, near Harrisburg, PA; John Adam Chubb, born October 11, 1851, near Harrisburg, PA; and David Chubb, born March 31, 1854, died March 26, 1881.Samuel remarried to (2) Sarah, who died about 1885, and to (3) Susannah Lyter in 1887.Samuel was apparently affiliated with the Dunkard Church, which I understand is the Church of the Brethren.
Samuel's obituary on February 27, 1903, shows that he was accredited as the oldest farmer of Lower Paxton Township. He was survived by his wife, and two children, Adam Chubb and Mrs. Elizabeth Shoop. Samuel's will, written on April 21, 1898, listed his wife, Susanna, his children, Adam Chubb and Elizabeth Shoop, and his grandson, Henry Chubb.
Who are Samuel Chubb's and Hannah Lutz's parents?I will be happy to share information.
