Lisa, yes the Y-DNA testing program is ongoing. However, because the "haplotype," or genetic signature, has been established for the three northern American Churchill families, an individual whose paper genealogy shows him to be a member of one of these families would merely gain confirmation of this by testing. In addition, Y-DNA passes only from father to son, etc., whereas from your earier posting I understand your most recent Churchill ancestor to be a daughter. Thus, your brother's Y-DNA would be that of his family name and not that of William Churchill of Manhattan.
The overall picture is that the haplotype of the Manhattan and Plymouth families are identical, while 2nd generation Joseph of Wethersfield, Connecticut, (and presumably his father Josiah) had two markers with different values.
What we are really hoping for is English Churchills interested in testing, as their results could help determine the relationships among both English and American Churchills.
