Yes, some researchers who have Mary Churchill married to Roger Jones show a descendant named Churchill Jones.
Forgive me if I make suggestions you've already tried. I love land records and some times other "things" are recorded in those land record books, too. If your George inherits anything from a father who is in another state, George may give power of attorney to someone back "home" to collect his share of that estate. The power of attorney should be recorded in land record books where George lives as the local recorder will verify the identity of George, then it will be sent to and recorded again in the county where the probate proceedings are held.
Have you used GenWeb, one of my favorites? If not, go to Shelby Co, KY GenWeb site -- http://kykinfolk.com/shelby/http://kykinfolk.com/shelby/ -- They have index to some probate records and have something on a Richard Churchill, is he related to your George?
I "searched" the Churchill forum and didn't see you posting your own query on George. But I did find someone who is working on that Richard Churchill. Have you contacted him to see if there is a connection between George and Richard?
