Hello Alan, Many thanks for the work you've done on my behalf & the info. you've provided. It is satisfying to have hunches turned into hard fact & to see how my ancestors weren't afraid to uproot their families & travel long distances in their search for, presumably, work. The info. provided by the 1891 census proved that a majority of the people residing in the Castleford area were from the Midlands primarily, as well as other areas of Britain, but I suspect that you already know this!! I see that we have another relative online to keep you busy, although I haven't yet had time to read all the correspondence. Anyway, enough of me wittering on! Uncle Alf did marry Ms Harling (whose forename my sister Barbara & I cannot remember) & they did have a son, Colin, who is a local councillor. Alfred though, is a mystery. I have just tried ringing Colin (who, incidentally, I have never met) but no-one answered, so I'll try again later. Best Wishes Charles.
