BUNNELL, Fla. -- Stella M. O'Malley, 86, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Flagler Pines health care facility in Bunnell, Fla., after a lengthy battle with degenerative heart disease.
Formerly of Winslow, Maine, Stella had lived in Palm Coast, Florida, these past 20 years.
Stella was born in Winslow on July 11, 1917, the daughter of the late John Gondela and Mary Ciszek.
Stella graduated from Winslow High School and from Bay Path College, Longmeadow, Mass. She worked at Agawam High School in Agawam, Mass., and then retired from Northeast Utililities in West Springfield, Mass., as an administrative assistant.
Stella was an avid crafter; she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She was an active member of both the Women's Guild and the Women's Crafting Group at her church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, in Palm Coast, Fla.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll O'Malley, in 1962 and her elder brother, Felix Gondela, in 1988. She is survived by her son, James O'Malley, his wife, Sharon, and their two children David and Nancy of Crystal Lake, Ill.; her brother, Thaddy Gondela, of Waterville, Maine, and her sister Veronica Soule of Winslow; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville, Maine.
