I am seeking information on the John Clancy who owned property on Charleston Neck in the Radcliffborough District. He is listed in the Charleston City Directories in the years 1816, 1819, 1825, and 1829. He is called a Carpenter in 1816, listed at 6 Market St. In 1819 he is a shop keeper at S W or Coming & Vanderhorst Sts. In 1822, he is called a grocer at corner of Corning & Vanderhorst Sts. in 1825 he is listed as Clancey, John; Grocer, King St. And in 1829 he is a grocer on King St. W Side bet Vanderhorst & Warren Sts.
My ancestor Bartley Clancy (according to family stories) married "a rich young widow" Elizabeth Kellum (not sure of spelling) who first married a Clough, then a Blair, then Bartley Clancy. There are Cloughs in the area where John Clancy is found. Could Bartley Clancy be one of the many sons of John? I would appreciate any ideas on this subject. I have Bartley's family traced through AL (1830 - 1869) to TX (1869 - present)
