Happy to receive your inquiry. No, I do not know the husband or father of EL Clarkston c 1845, daughter of Katherine Clark (Clarkson,Clarkston). From what I've read in the other postings, There are no known husbands for either Katherine or EL.El 1st appears as the 15 yr ol servant girl in the household of James C. Bailey in the 1860 Census of Harlan Co. (This is on a posting D.Pierson).
My mother did not seem to know very much except they worked as servants for different men or households and they had children by them. The only names that I've heard are Bailey (Ben, the oldest child; he must have been born around 1863-65 when EL was 18-20 yrs. old. ) I'm not sure of the name Aunt Minty (Arminta married Pennington), went by before her marriage, I think it was Clarkson.Aunt Alpha and Aunt Louisa went by Holmes, and they were raised by Jehu Holmes (but I don't think he was the father), I think they took them in when EL died around 1883-84.She was about 39 years old when she died of breast cancer, according what my mother told me.There was a Bailey family in the Dryden,Va.(Lee Co.) area that I remember visiting once.So there must have been a friendly relationship with the Baileys.I will have to ask my older sisters if Susan(Aunt Susie), another one of my ggrandmother Orlena's was also a Bailey or if she married a Bailey.Until I read these postings, I had no idea That a Rebecca existed. My sister said my mother talked of an aunt Mary (could have been the Mary Garrison since they were also in same Lee Co.Va. area of my family.) My mother's sister's sondid a lot of family genealogy. He has since passed away, but I believe his wife would have the info. They live in Maryland, but I know how to contact them.Perhaps I can come up with more info.My grandmother Orlena went by Clark.I do not know who her father was.She was born about 1882-83.Her mother Katherine seemed to be associated with the name McKinney, but I do not know which of her many children were from the McKinney association.Perhaps someone out there will know who Katherine was involved with when EL was born.I've gotten more information thru these postings than I ever dreamed. Before all I had was the name of Elender Clark, and figured it would always be a mystery.I would love to know about your Rebecca, when did she leave the area for Arkansas, which Baileydid she marry, how many children did they have, etc.Did she or her family have any contact with the relatives back in Va.Did they go to Arkansas with other familys from Va.?Ben, really looking forward to your input. And hopefully, someone out there can fill in a few pages to this story. You may email firstname.lastname@example.org:Glenda Morris
