Kathy, my Richard was dead before 1O Jun 1815 as evidence by the Will of Thomas Cralle:
WILL OF THOMAS CRALLE, Halifax Co, VA.WW 1O Jun 1815, Codicil 16 Nov 1815; WP 28 Nov 1815: In the name of God amen. I Thomas Cralle of Halifax Co and State of VA being sick of body but of sound mind and memory, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following ....Items tis my will and desire that all the property to me as legatee of the estate of Richard Claughton and which will be at the decease of Ann Claughton, relict of the said Richard Claughton, shall be equally divided among my children in manner aforesaid.
They also had business dealings in 1791:
Deed Bk 16, p 143, Lunenburg Co, VA: To Rich'd & Ann Claughton for life, 50 ac in L'burg in consideration of negro boy, Peter, sold/delivered to John Lewis Cralle, son of Thomas. 5 Mar 1791.
Deed Bk 16, p 166, Lunenburg Co, VA: Rich'd & Ann Claughton convey to John Lewis Cralle, son of Thomas, a negro slave, Peter, abt 14 yrs old. In return, Thomas C to deed or lease them 5O acres for life. 5 Mar 1791.
I took the will to mean that his deceased wife was possible Elizabeth Claughton and the daughter of Richard and Ann Claughton.
I don't know for sure but I believe that Thomas was the son of John and Spelman Garner Cralle:

as you can see two of John and Spelman Cralle's children married Claughtons. There are other coincidences that point to Thomas Cralle from the will being Thomas the son of John and Spelman Cralle. So it is also possible that Thomas could have been the relative of Richard and Ann.Or as mentioned above he also married a Claughton.I was hoping to get a clue by understanding more about Richard and Ann Claughton.
There is another possibility that the reference in the will referred to the land that was leased to Richard and Ann in exchange for the the slave, Peter. Contact me at my email address given above and we can ponder our mysteries.
