An interesting new book has been published about Claytons in Texas. It is entitled GUILTY--BUT NOT AS CHARGED, the true story of Reuben Flanoah Wilkerson, a West Texas rancher who married Dorintha Salone Clayton, the daughter of George Washington Clayton. Wilkerson was convicted of murder in 1899 and instead of accepting his life sentence, he went on the run into Colorado and Wyoming. He was killed by a Pinkerton agent/deputy sheriff in Dixon, Wyoming in Nov. 1900. He kept a diary and the book has a copy, plus family pictures. It is fully documented and can be purchased for $15.95 plus shipping from email@example.com.
