Dear Dalene,I'm happy to know that there are others out there searching for the Claywells.Yes, Shadrach Claywell is a veteran of the Rev War and his story in his request for his pension is most interesting. It is on microfilm and you can order it at any LDS Family Research Center where you are welcome any time whether or not you are LDS.He tells his story of being captured by the British and becoming infected by small pox and the poor treatment he suffers. To save his life he tells them he will come over to their side. The war soon ends and he is taken north to Canada from where he eventually works his way home, but there is much more to this story.
Shadrach's sister Elizabeth was born about 1705 in Accomack Co., Virginia and died abt 3 Apr 1761 in Worcester Co., Maryland. She married about 1728 in Somerset Co., Maryland to Hutton Hill who died about 1746.I'm aware of two children:1.Levin Hill born before 1746 in Somerset Co., Maryland. He died abt 13 Mar 1801 in Worcester Co., Maryland. His known children are a.Purnell Hill, b. Levin Hill.2.Sophiah Hill who married Josiah Mitchell in Worcester Co. Maryland.Elizabeth married secondly to Joachim White abt 1748. Born to them were:a.Luchresha, b.Peter, andc. James all between 1749-62.
All I have on Zodock is that he was born abt 1770 in Worcester Co., Maryland and died 20 May 1813 in Bath Co., Kentucky. He married to Ann in Jun 1786.
If you or others out there know more I would be most appreciative of hearing from you.I know nothing on Shadrach's brother Jesse and very little on the other siblings except for their spouses with the exception of Peter on whom we have quite a bit of information as well as Shadrach's sister Comfort Claywell who married George Richardson and are my fourth great grandparents.Good Day!Marilyn Monson
