I know of no battles that JMC fought in.
It is important to note that in the 1770s Augusta Township (Sunbury area), Northumberland Co, PA was part of the frontier and vulnerable to attacks from the British, the Tories, and Indians.
There were also armed conflicts which continued up until 1784 between Pennsylvania settlers and "New England" settlers (largely from Connecticut) which dated back to overlapping land grants given by James I and Charles II.
(William Penn was granted land already spoken for.)
At the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Connecticut settlers from the Wyoming Township (Wilkes-Barre) just north along the Susquehanna had sent their Militia to fight with George Washington. This proved to be an error in that it left their families and farms exposed to a major raid by Brits, Tories, and Indians in 1778 (The Wyoming Massacre).
Last minute appeals were made to JMC (Captain in charge of 73 militia members at Ft. Jenkins) to come to the rescue. But due to the risk of leaving family and property exposed to similar attacks, the lateness of the request, and the continuing Pennsylvania - New England dispute, it was considered unlikely that jMC would be able to convince his men to take action.
While not glamorous, sometimes local defense is more than adequate and honorable service.
