Clodfelter/Evans Haywood County, NC
My maternal great grandmother was named Eliza Jane Evans, born in December 1841. Possibly in Davidson or Macon County NC. She married my great grandfather, George William Clodfelter on 10/20/1869.They lived in Haywood County, Ivey Hill Township, North Carolina. You can find the family in the June 1880 census. They had 6 children: Mary Docia Ann Elizabeth, 11/7/1872-7/30/1935 (my grandmother), Catherine E, 1874, David L, 1876, Martha (J or F), 1878 and (female) Mica L, 1879/80. They may be some mixed blood because I remember hearing my mother say that her grandmother (Eliza Jane) was part Cherokee Indian.Docia Ann, married Milas Parton (my grandfather)on Sept. 12, 1891. They are both buried in the Boyd Family Cemetery on Jonathan Creek, Maggie Valley, NC, withDocia Ann’s son, William Pless Boyd, also son of William J.G. Boyd.(William and Docia were never married)Milas and Docia had 9 children, the youngest child was my mother Ellen Mae Parton, born 2/27/1913.They also hadtwin girls, Rachel& Jane who lived only 2 weeks. I can give you birthrates and death of the other children. This is all I know! I haven’t found out any info about Eliza & George’s other children or about Docia’s siblings. If you know more please let me know
