Shooting in the dark in Lincoln County.
I have Elihu Lockman married Elizabeth “Betsey” W. Thompson 04 October, 1821 in Lincoln County NC.
Betsey is my Maternal Great Great Great Grandmother. Her daughter, Nancy G. Lockman, married my Great Great Grandfather William D. Thompson on 12 January, 1854 also in Lincoln County, NC.
These are two different branches of Thompsons.
I am trying to determine which branch of Thompsons “Betsey” is from. There are about four in Lincoln County.
There is a marriage bond in Lincoln County, NC for WILLIAM CLONINGER and MARTHA THOMPSON on 03 July, 1867. Elihu Lockman is the Bondsman.
Could this Martha Thompson be from Betsey’s Family? She would probably be a niece allowing for 20 as the age of marrying she would have been born around 1847. Betsey was born around 1800.
William D. Thompson has a sister Martha F. Thompson born 20 June,1854 and a cousin whose father was John Pinkeny Thompson, Martha Ann Thompson, born 13 February, 1841
Betsey is supposedly born in Virginia.
Can anyone link to this Cloninger-Thompson marriage and possibly to Elizabeth W. Thompson-Lockman?
