I know I am coming in a little late on this post but I also am a decendent of this same Clonts' line and would also like to share and receive some further information on Michael Asbury. According to my info., William Presley Clonts (abt 1827)was the 1st born son of Samuel and Sarah Clonts as listed on the 1850 Gilmer county GA census. 7 other children are listed there with the youngest being his brother,Milligan Cicero (abt 1847) but no Michael Asbury. Milligan is my GG grandfather, then Samuel Asbury, Luther and my father, Winfred Leroy. I have not been able to tie Michael Asbury directly in, so anything you have will be of great help.
I did see a GA marriage record (Gilmer Co.) where he married Rachael A. Stone on 10 Mar. 1844. I have seen a couple of family data collection records listing Michael Asbury as the son of Samuel A but have not found any "official"records as such.
I am pretty new to Gene. research, so any information that you have to share would be greatly appreciated.
