My husband, Brian, is descended from Ebenezer and Ann.
I'm also trying to find his parentage, although I have much information regarding descendants.
I saw an IGI record for an Ebenezer born in Scotland. Do you have any proof that's our Ebenezer?
Some information I have been given, some I have found, some I have proven.
Ebenezer and Ann were married April 16, 1772, in London. They had: David Ferniagh Clow, b. 1779; Henry Clow b. 1782; Ann Clow b. 1784 m. William Carter; James Clow b. 1789 and Mary Ann Clow b. 1789.
The line that I am pursuing is their son: David Ferniagh or Fernihaugh Clow, Sr. b. 1779 (christened April 1779 Wells Street Scotch Church, St. Marylebone, London, d. 1861 Haversfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales m. Ann Moore b. January 18, 1777 Finsbury, London, Middlesex, England; d. December 29, 1855 Haversfordwest, Pembrokeshire, Wales. I have photos of them. David went into the Royal Navy at age 10. He was at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21, 1805 (he was a pursers steward on the "Colossus") and the Battle of Copenhagen on September 2-5, 1807. David and Ann had: David Ferniagh Clow Jr. b. 1802/3 m. Nancy Frazier; Ann "Nancy" Clow b. 1805/6; Mary Ann CLow b. 1806/7 m. Herbert Frazier; John Stevonitt Clow b. 1807/8 d. bef 1810; John Stevenet Clow b. 1810 (see below); Jessie Whitaker Clow b. abt 1813 m. William Fraser Boggs; William Hewetson Clow b. 1816 m. Isabella Katherine Ellis; George Edmund Clow b. 1818/9.
David Ferniagh Clow, Jr. inherited the estate in Wales. I presume that's why John (below)immigrated to Canada.
Grandson: John Stevenet Clow b. August 12, 1810; d. March 13, 1892 San Francisco, CA m.1st on December 14, 1831 at her farm in Shubencadie, Nova Scotia, Canada to Agnes Louisa Redman b. March 29, 1808, d. March 28, 1849, dau of Richard Sparrow Redman and Sarah Wyman. After she died, he moved to Boston, Mass. where he worked in the patent office. He married 2) Mrs. Sarah Leighton. He then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lyle, Minnesota and San Francisco. On all the US census, he was listed as painter. I also have photos of them. John was a daguerreotypist and have had much correspondence with the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and am told that his work is displayed there, at the Nova Scotia Museum, the Public Archives of Nova Scotia and the Archdiocese of Halifax. I have some black and white photocopies of some of his work. John and Agnes had: Agnes Louise b. 1832 m. Alexander Cruikshank; Thomas Herbert b. 1834 m. Elizabeth "Libby" Marvin; John Sherwin b. 1836 m. 1) Celinda Burnap 2) Tina Moe; Jessie b. 1838 never married; George Wyman (see below); Bertha Redman b. 1842 m. Adam Cochrane; Alice Anne b. 1844 m. Lucius Shepardson; Richard Headley b. 1847 m. 1) Mary Bingham 2) Linnie Story.
G grandson: George Wyman Clowe, a baptist minister who lived in New York and married Hannah Wiswall Waldron.
GG grandson: Oliver Wiswall Clowe who married Alvia ?
GGG Grandson: Charles Whitbeck Clowe who married Helen Cooper Olney.
Would really be interested if you have any proof of birth for Ebenezer or Ann; and parentage of David Sr.
