Here is a brief summary of the lands he had in North Carolina, I can send the legal descriptions if anyone wants them. Land Peter received two grants Feb l, 1750. ment in later deed. 1753 315 acres from Killion on Leeper’s Creek, 1753 250 from Moore 1758 he bought 50 from Oyster; 1768 patented 100, 1783 200 acre grant #l55 TOTAL BOUGHT 915 plus original grants
Sold; 1764 250 to Jacob Seights, 1768 100 to Michael Masters, 1784 to Jacob Seigts 267, however this is with Peter Jr and Michael Masters, so includes land previously sold to his son in laws. 1784 to Michael Masters unk amt, 1786/7 to Peter Jr 315 acres on b sides of Leeper Ck, 100 acres at a stony hill 1787 deeds remaining all remainder of estate (does not say whether land) to his son Total 1032 acres more or less.
He was in the Cape Fear Uprising military which is listed as l748, but I have seen other discussion that perhaps it was really l752.In that same group of men are numerous men from Pennsylvania (probably 33), some of which were my relatives. However there are also ll from Shenandoah, and five from Maryland. So it wasn't simply a German group.
Part of my resistance to seeing Peter Clubb as Klopp is that if you look a couple of counties away to Prince George Maryland there is a long standing Clubb family there. I am undecided as to where the Peter Clubb of Tulpehocken came from, but Maryland remains a possiblity.
Putting together what i could of the Peter Klopp family of Tulpehocken I note that one source says that Peter Klp came on the Lydia Sept 29, l74l, if so he comes after Peter Clubb warrants the Tulpehocken land.I have the following on the Klopps.l746 Peter Klopp, wife not named, dau Christina Barbara bapt l746.l748 George Klob (sic) bapt May 1748 parents Peter and Margaret.l752 Cocalico twp Lancaster Peter Klop and wife Maudlin sell and to Nicholas Zerfas, Peter Klop received the land l753.Sept l753 Peter Klop sr will in Tulpehocken (ruling him out as the immigrant to NC).l756 report of troops at Daniel Shue's or Peter Koop (source Frontier Forts site on web), so there is obviously a Peter jr.l76l Orphans ct Lancaster John Hiel estate "widownow wife of said Klop"(earlier it mentioned Peter Klop as one of thepeople asking for action.)So there is a Peter with wife widow Heil in l76l.OUr Peter Clubb is now in North Carolina about l0 years.1763 Peter Klopp at Christ LUtheran in STouchsburg, Pa.l790 Berks Heidelberg twp Jacob Klupp, Peter jr and sr.(Likely Peter is Peter jr, his father having died l753, and Peter jr now has a son Peter.)179l Peter Klop, son of Petr b Nov 22, l7l9 d May 22, l794 and buried at Hain's church (so that eliminates Peter II as the NC immigrant).Peter Klopp II b Heidelberg May 3l, l75l died there Feb 24, 1835 at 84, buried Corner church.l780 Peter Klopp (presume III) married April 27 at Trinity reformed Tulpehocken. That kind of eliminates three Peter Klops (I, II, III) as the immigrant to North Carolina. We ar then left wondering who is left as a candidate for the one who moved to North Carolina and presumably changed the spelling. I have been chasing this guy for literally 50 years and would welcome further discussion and facts to help all of us sort this out.
