Some of the dates of birth do not match census records for the family, which sometimes can be understood, nor do names provided in the follow-up match other history. Not all names in the Bible have been linked yet which is aa project to be done. This family has been one that has been approached by myself for much time to find the ancestral line of James Cobb (possibly a Barnstable line family). Census records have provided some detail on this James Cobb's family and some descendants but not on an ancestry. It is incomplete and this listing fits some of the family data but also provides errors in one record or another. Usually a Bible is a good source if done by a contemporary family member.
This family is also found in a document (partly titled) as "Families of Oakland, Maine Along with families of Belgrade, ... " There it has one wife as Annie Ellis and another Rhoda ____. The children given (1840 - 1855) are listed with exact or approximate dates that closely match census and town report records.
Elsewhere, there is a record of one wife as Rhoda Foster but that might be questionable or a married name. Census records point to one wife (third wife) as Rhoda W. Alexander and Foster may be a prior marriage name.
The Bible record is a valuable start but there is conflicting and incomplete data from the original or transcription. There is more to follow up if there are other sources to match this Bible or the other records available. I hope the parents and line for this James Cobb can be determined (a deed or will would be essential).
