Do you know if anyone has done a complete survey of the St, Michael's records of the CODDs of Aghowle (Aghold)? The ones you list seem to be fitting in to a larger pattern on my family tree chart. I think JAMES and ANN CODD are the likely parents of
Thomas who married Elizabeth Twamley Abraham who married Mary Twamley and George (third marriage) who married Rachel Twamley (three bothers who married three sisters) in 1764 at St. Michael's.
Their other siblings are: Ann, Frances, James, John, and Mary
See the following record:
"Rachael TWAMLEY b: ca 1738 Aghold Parish Wicklow, Ireland. Rachael TWAMLEY possibly had sisters Mary m: Abraham Codde and Elizabeth who married Thomas Codde who were the brothers of George and they were the children of James Codd and Ann ?. George, Abraham, Thomas also had the following sibs: Ann, Frances, James, John, and Mary. "
I think, if we keep at this, we will find that all of the CODDs/CODEs who left for Lanark were members of this extended family - and there are many more of them that anyone one researcher seems to have accounted for.
The abovementioned THOMAS CODE and ELIZABETH TWAMLEY would have married around 1750, and are the parents of THOMAS CODE (b. 1773 Munahullen) who also married an ELIZABETH TWAMLEY (b. 1778 Croneleagh). My guess is that GEORGE CODE (b. 1782) of Kitley was THOMAS's brother, as the Ramsey Township CODE's moved to Smiths Falls (near Kitley ) in their later years, and the only CODE family there at the time was GEORGE's.
My great aunt reported in 1947 that :
"Thomas Code 's widow and four boys and one girl emigrated to Canada." I always thought she got it wrong as there was no widow. It hadn't dawned on me that there was another generation older than THOMAS (b. 1773) and ELIZABETH (b.1778) who could have come. In that case we are looking for three other brothers (George could fit) and one sister - and there are lots of candidates - a JAMES, one or more JOHNs, and ABEL and an ELIZABETH. I will keep looking!
