Hi Jacqueline, Do you have data on Edward COFFEE or COFFEE who married Margaret WILLIAMS and in the 1900 is living in Herkimer Co., NY, census, with her father, Robert WILLIAMS?Mrs. Jenny WILLIAMS wa deceased.
Was my 2 great grandfather, John HUGHES b. ~1834, living in 1850 census [see below] in Trenton, Oneida Co., NY, with Robert [?] H. WILLIAMS, b. 1814 in Wales and wife, Jenny [?] D. WILLIAMS, b. 1818 in Wales? What was their relationship?
John HUGHES, Jr., baptized Dec. 14, 1834 in Gwalchmai, Anglesey, Wales, immigrated at age 15 years alone to New York by 1850.His parents: Hugh HUGHES and Margret JONES HUGHES died by 1836, and he was raised by his grandparents, possibly John HUGHES, Sr. and Mary PERRY HUGHES in Anglesey, Wales.
Two possibilities found in 1850 census are: 1) Trenton, Oneida, NY - p 267 (This John born abt 1836.) WILLIAMS, Robert(?) H - 36 - farmer - Wales Jenny(?) D - 32- (blank) - Wales John - 14 - (blank) - Wales.
[Note: in 1900 Herkimer County, NY, census Robert WILLIAMS, a widower, is living with his daughter, Margaret WILLIAMS COFFEE and son-in-law, Edward COFFEE.Is this the same Robert WILLIAMS?]
2) Town of Remsen, Oneida, NY - p 343 (This John was born abt. 1835) HUGHES, John - 63 - farmer- Wales Jane - 62 - (blank) - Wales Thomas - 24 - laborer - Wales Ellen (Ellin) - 21 - (blank) - Wales John - 15 - laborer - Wales.
