Michael Coffee/ey was a seaman from the fishing village of Cheekpoint on Waterford Harbour.He married Johanna Whelan/Phelan before 1831 in the RC parish of Killea.Their daughter, Margaret Coffey, born circa 1839, married Edward/Edmund Barry in 1864 and their son Michael was born in Cheekpoint in 1865. The men in their families were seaman or worked on the river.
Margaret [Coffee/ey] Barry married seaman Laurence Matson in 1868. Their daughter Christina settled in Liverpool Her son from her first marriage, Michael Barry, was brought up by his Coffee/ey aunts, and married Margaret Dempsey in 1887, in Waterford city.
Michael Coffee/ey of Waterford married Elizabeth Walsh in Waterford in 1880.
