I am looking for a Virginia Jane Click b. abt 1870 Cocke Co. Tn. She also went by the nickname of Jennie, but has always shown in the census records as "Jane". I can't find her after 1880.
The family story states that when she was "16 yrs old", which would put it approximately 1886 she had an out of wedlock child with her sister's husband. She was sent away according to family stories to live with her brother Thomas Jefferson "Uncle Buck" Click in OKLAHOMA.
The thing that is so confusing is the timeframe. Buck Click was not in Oklahoma until between 1900 & 1910. He married in Arkansas in 1895 to his first cousin, then they were in Collinsville, Grayson Co. Texas 1900. In 1910 & 1920 census he's in Lawton, Comanche Co. Oklahoma.
Jennie had written home (no time frame) and sent a photograph of her family (which I have) and the family history lists her as "Mrs. Coffee who lived in Texas" but doesn't give a location in Texas. In the photograph is Jennie, her husband (first name unknown), a son who appears to be abt 7 or 8 yrs old, and a baby probably abt a year old, but can't tell gender due to dressing in a dress.
Don't know if Jennie kept the baby or even if a boy or girl, or if this child was adopted by somebody.
In this post she talks about a "Frank Coffee born in the 1880's and died 1912 buried in the Mead Oklahoma cemetery.Do not have any more to go on with the heads of this household except the wife had a brother living around COMANCHE CO, Okla at one time"
I am just wondering if this "brother living around Comanche Co, Oklahoma was Thomas Jefferson "Uncle Buck" Click.
