I helped our cousin Ronald Hardway do the Pioneer history for the Heritage of Webster County, W. Va., 1994.Ron can verify this.Nowhere have I ever found a record stating that Catherine Coger, d/o of Peter, married a John Ashward. As a matter of fact, after searching the records thoroughly, I have never found a record of any marriage of a Catherine Coger to a John Ashward.Believe me, I would like to see the court record for that marriage, for myself.I don't know where some people get their information. They must not be looking at the same court records that I have been reading all these years.
I am also familiar with these websites, that are being used as a source of information on the Cogar family, and know that a lot of mis-information is posted.
It would be great to have illustrious ancestors but, unfortunately, that is not always the case.I am proud of my ancestry from wherever they came.In the end, I just hope that they would be proud of, we, their descendants.
If you would like a copy of the Heritage of Webster County, I will see if I can get one for you.I am currently residing in West Virginia and it won't be a problem since I go to Webster County frequently. Please advise.
Your cousin, Dee
P.S. Would you like for me to also check on the availability of the Frederick/Burrows book for you?
