Lucille McClellan was born on February 2, 1919, to Adolph and Mabel (Johnson) Cohrs at their home in Dovray Township, Murray County, Minnesota. She was baptized at home on March 30, 1919, and was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Dovray on September 25, 1932.Lucille graduated from Tracy High School in 1936 and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1940. She received her master’s degree at Mankato State University in 1968. She taught school at Jeffers and at Lamberton High School. Lucille was united in marriage to John McClellan on August 24, 1940. Together the couple lived and farmed east of Dovray, Minnesota. She retired from teaching in 1980. Lucille was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran where she served on the WELCA, taught adult Sunday School and played organ part-time for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, Bible Study, cultivating corn and spending time with her family. Lucille especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Lucille passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006, at the Tracy Hospital at the age of 87.
Lucille is survived by her husband John of 66 years; children: Glen (Louise) McClellan, Bonners Ferry, Idaho and Gene (Julie) McClellan, Westbrook, MN; three grandchildren: Shannon McClellan, Daniel McClellan and David McClellan; two great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Isabella.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Glen.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Pleasantview Cemetery, Dovray, MN. The Westbrook Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
