My father and I were compliling information regarding the family history. There seems to be a wealth of knowledge available here, If anyone can share any information, it would be greatly appreciated.
My family originally came from Quebec, Canada and immigrated to Maine, from which my grandfather moved to Bridgeport, CT where we are the only Collettes.
My great-great grandfathers name was Atelard Collette, and my great-grandfather had the same name as well. My grandfather's name is Raymond Collette, my father William Collette, and myself Raymond Collette. My part of the family is most definately of French Canadian origin as I clearly remember my great-grandparents and grandfather are fluent in the French language.
My grandfather also told me that he had some cousins who moved to Mass, USA and dropped the "E" off the name because they were tired of people mispronouncing the name as: Co-llett-"E". We would appreciate any assistance from my fellow Collette's....
Which I must say is such a noble name indeed which I am pleased to bear!!! Thank you!!!!
