Jacob Lee Coltrane: born Aug. 1876, married Minnie V. Tomlinson: born March 1, 1876.
In the 1900 Census for Morehead-Guilford Co., North Carolina, Jacob's mother was living with them at the time, her name was Susan, she was born April 1840. She had 5 children and 4 were living at the time the census was taken. All were born in North Carolina.
These are the children of Jacob and Minnie Coltrane:
Arthur Harrison Coltrane: b.Jan. 27, 1901 Ester or Esther Coltrane: b. Aug. 16, 1902 Susan (Pauline) Coltrane: b. Sept. 27, 1904 (I also have this name for Pauline) Pauline C. Hohn Coltrane, could this be any relation to Minnie Hohn Robertson who wrote "The Earth Abideth Forever" A portrait of the Davis and Coltrane families of Randolph County? Mary Louise Coltrane: b. Sept 2, 1908 Jacob Lee Coltrane, Jr.: (my grandfather) b. June 3, 1910
I am trying to find Minnie V. Tomlinson's family line and can't find anything because I have only her name. My grandfather said that Minnie and Jacob both were full blooded Cherokee indians, i have pics of them and they definitely were full blooded indians.
My grandfather, Jacob Lee Coltrane, Jr. was married to Ellen Mae or May Smith. Ellen was born in Newnan, Georgia-Coweta County. She was adopted right after she was born by a man named Andrew Lee Smith, also born in Newnan, Georgia. I am trying to figure out how my grandfather met her with her being from Georgia and him living in Guilford County, NC.
If anyone can help me please let me know, you can email me- firstname.lastname@example.org. I will be forever grateful....
