Hi Jerry Only just read your msg. I have Matilda de Colville in my tree. According to my records, she is part of the Colvilles of Arnliffe, father is Sir William de Colville of Arnliffe, born at Dale Hawnby, Arncliffe, Yorkshire, England in Jan 1322. Mother is Joan de Fauconberge born in 1325. I also have her marriage to Geoffrey Fielding who's father is recorded as Geoffrey (Galfride) Habsburg, Count de Habsburg born in Rinfilding, Germany in about 1317. Then, of course, I have his parents, Johann de H & Agnes, Countess of Saarbrucken. I haven't got around to investigating this part of the tree yet but it looks to me like Geoffrey Fielding and/or his father Galride may not be related to THE Habsburgs at all. I have no additional info about any hoax but it looks mighty suspicious to me. Do you think that Geoffrey married into the Colville family for their money. Maybe having the Habsburg name linked to his led them to believe he was wealthy in his own right when, in fact, he was just a conman. Hmmmm, very interesting.I may have to look into this a bit more.
