BEND, Oregon -- A Mass of Christian burial for George Colvin, 81, formerly of South Colton, was held recently at St. Francis Catholic Church in Oregon. Burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery in Parish, N.Y., in the spring.
Mr. Colvin died Jan. 27, 1988 in a nursing home in Bend.
Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; five sons, Earl of Syracuse, George Jr. of Bend, Raymond and Albert of Washington, and Glenn of Valley, Wash.; a daughter, Velva Gregory of Durhamville, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
He was born in upstate New York on Sept. 26, 1906, son of William and Marsha [sic] Colvin.
He was a logger for over 33 years at Kildare, which he owned and where he resided. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His first wife, Velva, died in 1954. He married Marjorie Petterson on Feb. 19, 1955 in Albany.

Mrs. Velma [sic, Velva] Bulson Colvin, 39, wife of George Colvin and a former Parish resident, died Saturday at her home at South Colton after a long illness.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters, Miss Kathy Colvin and Miss Velma [sic] Colvin; five sons, Earl, George, Raymond, Albert and Glen, all of South Colton; her mother, Mrs. Lula Bulson of Syracuse; her father, Earl Bulson of Parish; a sister, Mrs. Raymond Merritt of Rochester; three brothers, Walter of Elmira, Robert of Syracuse and Rolin of Rochester.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday in the Mills and Petrie Memorial Chapel and burial in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.

WIFE OF GEORGE COLVIN EXPIRES
Potsdam, Sept. 28. -- Mrs. Velva Colvin, 39, wife of George Colvin, died at 2 a.m. Saturday morning at her home, Kildare Park, twelve miles south of South Colton. She had been ill in bed since June.
The body was removed to a funeral home in Parish where services were held Sunday afternoon at the chapel in the Parish cemetery with burial there. Rev. Frederick Cook, pastor of the Colton Methodist church, officiated.
Mrs. Colvin, the former Velva Bolsum [sic], is survived by her husband, parents, and six children. Earl with the U.S. Army; George a student of the Forestry school at Wanakena; Raymond and Velva, students of the Colton-Pierrepont Central school and Albert and Glenn at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Colvin purchased Kildare Park from the M. P. Hawley estate and moved there to make their home in 1950. Mr. Colvin is a lumberman who operates in the Alder Creek and Lyons Falls section.
Mrs. Colvin was a member of the Colton Methodist church and Adirondack chapter, O.E.S., of Colton.
