I finally got around to looking at your first entry in the Conant Forum prior to my responding to your email last week.I can see you've been busy!
In addition to my prior suggestions and remarks, I suggest that the next time you can make your way to Temple, ME, you contact Ms. Theo Farmer (yes, female - she's a slightly distant relative of mine as she has some Conant blood) and also George Blodgett. His father toured me up to the Center Hill cemetery years ago - where we found ol' Ephraim Conant.Although he probably doesn't know it, I've been in his parent's house in Temple on about 3 occasions and his father's father father was a contemporary of my g-grandfather Charles Albion Conant, b. in Temple in the late 1800s.Both Theo and George know a fair bit of the Temple history.
Further, tonight I came across this link to a reference of a "Grace Wilder" of Temple that I thought might interest you.
By the way, the reference to Abbotstown was because the Abbots were hired by the Commonwealth of Mass. in the late 1700s to do a lot of surveying in Maine in preparation for it's future settlement. The old structure you found near the top of Center Hill was the initial residence.Home of the Abbots.
Many of the early settlers came in from Temple, NH, including the Drurys and the Conants.
Let me know what you're finding, and call any time!
