I have a couple letters written by E. H. Conger to his sister Hannah in Galesburg while Edwin was in the Civil War.I believe he came home from the war, studied to be a lawyer, eventually made his way to Iowa were he was elected to a county office and eventually to US Congress. The letters were left at my place of residence by a Clara Williams. I think she may have been his niece, maybe the daughter of Hannah W. Conger. She seems to have lived at the Carl Greeley Farm in Waterman, Ill., at the turn of the last century--maybe worked as a nurse--I'm guessing at most of this information--at the hospital founded by Dr. Paul and Maude (Webb) Greeley in Waterman. She may have followed them from college in Michigan. Anyway, I now live on the Greeley Farm and I found some of her belongings including letters stored in a barn.
