In the book "The Conger Family of America Vol. II" (pg. 215) there is a listing for Stephen Jackson CONGER b. 1833 in Monroe Co., OH; d. 10 April 1862 in Beverly, VA; bd. Marietta, OH.He was the son of Stephen CONGER (b. 1796) & Mary PIATT (see pg. 475 of CFA Vol. I - which I don't have).On 24 Nov. 1852 he md. Mary SMITH (b. 1836 in Washington Co., OH; d. 1913 in Athens Mental Hospital; & bd. Dalgell, Washington Co.).She is the daughter of Basil SMITH (b. 1796) & Mary HOWELL.Ch b. Woodsfield, Monroe, OH. Stephen was listed with his mother Mary in the 1860 census.His father Stephen had d. 12 May 1859.Perhaps he had gone to his mother's to help with the farm work a year later.He d. 10 April 1862 in Beverly, VA, a Private, of Typhoid Fever. John (b. 1870) is listed as Stephen J.'s son, but this was 6 years after his death.His brother John (b. 1836) md. Mary Jane SMITH on 28 May 1866 -- possibly Stephen's widow Mary SMITH.John (b. 1836) and Mary Jane had dtr. Louisa b. 20 Feb. 1867. Stephen's widow Mary lvd in Washington Co. in 1880 with sons Enos, Joseph, & John.

This research was done by different individuals and may not be completely correct.As I have found, they omitted my line through my Great Great Grandmother completely.I believe you can find these books at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Family History Libraries.Vol. II is over 700 pages.
