Mary Conkright was the daughter of Isaac Conkright and Dolly/Dorothy Kook - so we are close cousins - Isaac and Dolly were my great-great-great-great grandparents. They came from Casey Co., KY (after moving there from NC and before that NY - Dykeman Shook married Mary Conkright on May 17, 1821 in Casey Co., KY - Mary's father, Hercules Conkwright was baptized in the Old Dutch Church of Sleepyhollow, Tarrytown, NY, on June 24m 1717, as Herculius, s/o Harreck Crancheyt and his wife Feytie (De Ronde). So, yes, indeed, they did come from New York; however, they were members of the Dutch Reformed Church - Hercules' dad, was baptized as Herck, s/o Sibout Hercxen and Marritje Abrahams. in the Reformed Dutch Church of NYC, NY, on Nov. 20, 1687 - Marritje was the daughter of Abraham Rycken and Grietje Hendricks, who in turn was the daughter of Hendrick Harmensen, the first land patentee of the land that is now La Guardia airport - and Riker's Island was named after Abraham Rycken or one of his sons - some took the last name Riker and others took the last name Lent. All Conkrights in all its spellings and al Cronkhite's in all its spellings are descended from Harck Syboutszen and Wntyje Theunis (the above-mentioned Sibout Hercxen's parents). Hope this helps, cuz!
