I just returned from a trip to Ireland, where I rented a cottage in Ballyriree (north of Leap, Co. Cork) that was once owned by a Michael Connolly, b. ca. 1855 per the 1911 Census). My 2x-great-grandfather Michael Connolly (1800-1892)lived and died in an adjoining townland, Knockskagh, and had a son Michael, but that son was born in 1849.Michael Sr.' son John had a son Michael, b. 1866. I have no information on Michael Sr.'s parents,
Ballyriree Michael married Mary McCarthy, and they had two daughters, Nora and Margaret (and a stepdaughter, Mary Deasy) who according the the current owner inherited the land. They sold it to emigrate a number of years later (I haven't had time to do the research on this).
Can anyone tell me where this Michael fits? BTW, Ballyriree is a tiny townland. My ancestor held about half (135 acres) of Knockskagh.
