Dear Phyllis/Dorothy
Great to hear from a long lost "cousin". We have the following record from the Stalybridge library where the records from St Michaels of all Angels - Ashton under Lyne are kept.
On 30th. June 1845 William Robinson of full age, a batchelor, stone mason by trade from Ashton, the son of Thomas Robinson also a stone mason, married Elizabeth (Betsy as Joseph referred to her) Constantine of full age, a spinster from Ashton, the daughter of George Constantine a spinner. William signed but Elizabeth made her mark against her name.
So yes, the odds are we do have a common ancestory. I have just had correspondence from a long lost relative in England, who is a descendant of John Constantine, the infant son of Joseph's who was left behind in England. He has just found George's Christening at Stockport. The record lists Job (of Oldham)and Betty Constantine as being his Parents. Sarah's parents were Peter and Jane Aldred. Josephs story, Ive posted on the www.firstfamilies2001.net.au site. If you are interested, you can search on Constantine and click on the message posted by me Christopher Constantine.
If you have other questions/information, please feel free to contact me directly.
Look forward to hearing from you,
warm regards
