I know something of Jane Contee. I do not have access to my notes right now, but I know she was the oldest daughter of Alexander Contee. (I am descended from Alexander through his oldest son, John.) Alexander was born in England in he late 1600s and came to Maryland to live with his childless uncle John in about 1714. Alexander (and his wife whose name I am embarrassed to say I have forgotten) built a tobacco, slave estate in southern Prince Georges County near to the crossroads of Baden. There is actuall a family grave yard remaining, in very deteriorated condition, and I have seen Alexander's grave-stone from 1747. Alexander was a person of some standing in colonial maryland and was a signiture to the "Declaration of Freemen of maryland". Perhaps it was through this that they became aquainted wth the Hansons of Fredrick. I hope this is helpful please let me know if you wish to share further information.
