Hey Erik, as a Coonrod from Fannin County, Texas, I would be interested in your data. You've probably read my previous posts on this forum.I am actively involved in the Coontown Cemetery Association and we are trying to restore the cemetery where Coonrods were buried from the mid to late 1800's. I'm sure there must be some connection as my ancestors were from a family that migrated to Fannin County in the 1840's from Greene County, Illinois. We have gotten the state to designate the cemetery as a historical cemetery, have a fence up and much cleaning has been done.
If there is anyone reading this post who would be interested in supporting our efforts to preserve and honor our Coonrod ancestors, would love to hear from you.
I recall hearing that there was a branch of the family that changed the name to Conard but that's as much as I know. I was told it was pronounced "koo nard".Would be intested in why they changed it.
