F. MARION CORK
FRANCIS MARION CORK was born in Union County Ohio on December 9, 1851, the fifthson and sixth childof George W. and Lydia (Yarrington) Cork. In 1852, he moved, with his parents to Henderson County Illinois and in the spring of 1869.He again moved, with his parents, to Monona County Iowa. He was married on September 14, 1873 to Eliza Davis.She was born on February 29, 1856, a daughter of John Davis.To this union were born twelve children, all born in Monona County Iowa:

Twin girls, born May 25, 1882.They died the same day
Edna May Cork, born May 25, 1883
Earl Marion Cork, born July 16, 1885.He died August 11, 1888
Ethel Blanche Cork, born February 26, 1888.She died May 27, 1889
Hazel Dean Cork, born June 22, 1889
Archie Boise Cork, born September 2, 1891
Lloyd Kenneth Cork, born April 24, 1894
Ruby Pearl Cork, born August 15, 1896
Mr. Cork farmed in Monona County Iowa for a number of years, and when the town of Turin Iowa was started, he built the first livery barn of the town, in the spring of 1887.Heoperated it until December 1888, when he sold it to Mr. Levi Wilson.When Tripp County South Dakota was opened for homesteading, Mr. Cork moved his family there and homesteaded nine miles south of Colome South Dakota and only about six miles west of his brother Thomas Cork’s homestead in Gregory County South Dakota.Marion Cork farmed the homestead until about 1920, when he sold out and retired, moving to Sioux City Iowa.He died on May 27, 1923.Mrs. Cork, surviving him some years, died on December 9, 1936.Both are buried in Graceland Cemetery at Sioux City Iowa.Records of their children as known to the writer are as follows:
Lydia Annis Cork was married March 22, 1899 to George Sheldon.They had three boys, and three girls.They lived at Fredrick Michigan where she died February 19, 1932.There is no record for Mr. Sheldon, but they are buried at Fredrick Michigan.

Edna May Cork first married a Mr. Lighthiser and lived at Hayden Colorado. She afterward married a Mr. Glasscock and lived at Denver Colorado.She last married a Mr. Leifheit, who later died.Edna last lived in Denver, where she died in June of 1971.She had no children.

Archie Boise Cork was married on July 30, 1914 to Eva Getzmeyer of Colome South Dakota.They had one daughter there.Archie farmed near Colome for several years, later moving to near Hayden Colorado.He died on May 29, 1956 and is buried at Fruita Colorado.The daughter, Merle, married Paul Moore and lived at Hayden Colorado.
Lloyd Kenneth Cork was married March 27, 1922 to Pearl Polar.They have two children,Arlene and Kenneth Cork.Mr. and Mrs. Cork lived in Tripp County South Dakota for a time, later moving to Hayden Colorado and last lived at Craig Colorado.He died on June 13, 1964 and is buried at Craig Colorado.The daughter, Arlene, is married to Mr. Zato and lives on a ranch near Craig Colorado.The son, Kenneth, is married and lives at Oak Creek Colorado.They have two boys,Lloyd Kenneth and Dean Cork.
