Eliza Cornish's husband, Harman H. Hillery or Mauck
I need help figuring out who Armon Mauck belongs to.Is he really a Mauck or did the Mauck's just raise him?He changes his name from Mauck to Hillery between the 1870 census and his marriage in 1871.Just working from public records this is what I found.

The only name on the Henry County census in 1850 that even comes close to Hillery is Nicholas Hilboury, age 30 (wheelright) unmarried, born in Sweden. The only Hillary/Hillery families in the entire state on the 1850 Illinois index were in Vermillion County – clear across the state.(dated 16 Dec 1850)

A.J. Rosenbaum age 32 bn VA
Since Philip’s first wife had died on 7 Feb 1850, Arman/Harman could not have been her child, unless his birth date and year is off on his grave record, which shows date of birth as 24 Feb 1851.Perhaps she died in childbirth? If Arman/Harman was the child of Elizabeth Rosenbaum, why would he not be listed as a Rosenbaum as her other child, Andrew J. Rosenbaum was?On the 1850 Warren County census, Anthony and Elizabeth Rosenbaum only have the two unmarried sons living with them, Andrew J. age 23 and James age 21.James married on 1 Apr 1852 in Warren County to Ellen Shoemaker so I don’t think Arman could have been widow Rosenbaum’s grandson, unless she had a daughter who had married a Hillery previous to the 1850 census?Rosenbaum researchers show no other children than the two boys.
There are no other white males with the last name Hillery/Hillary in the entire 1860 census index born in either Virginia or Illinois within 2 years of 1850.

Between the 1900 census and the 1910 census, his father goes from being born in Virginia to being born in Germany.Could it be because the person who he considered his father, Phillip Mauck, had died 10 Mar, 1906 so he no longer had to claim that out of respect?
Any thoughts out there?
