LITCHFIELD - Anthony John "Tony" Corso, 66, of Litchfield died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at his home.
He was born Jan. 5, 1940, in Litchfield, the son of August Anthony and Marie Elizabeth Sansone Corso. He married Linda Jane Eppinger in 1962 in Litchfield.
Mr. Corso graduated from Litchfield High School in 1957 and Eastern Illinois University in 1961. He served with the U.S. Coast Guard for three years, attaining the rank of lieutenant, and graduated from Officers Candidate School in 1962. He managed the Montgomery Ward catalog store in Litchfield, was an accountant for Sangamo Electric Co., served as vice president of Schutt Manufacturing Co. in Litchfield, worked in the office of The Litchfield News-Herald and managed Faith Book Shoppe in Litchfield before retiring. He was ordained a minister in 1982.
He was a member of South Side Church in Litchfield, where he served as an elder. He also was a member of Promise Keepers, International Chamber of Commerce and Litchfield Chamber of Commerce, formerly serving as president. He was a coordinator of the Jesus Day celebration in Litchfield and a founder of the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship.
Survivors: wife, Linda; five sons, August (wife, Diane) and Robert (wife, Patrice) Corso, both of Litchfield, George (wife, Jenny) Corso of Leesburg, Va., Chris (wife, Anita) Corso of LeRoy and Joe (wife, Jody) Corso of Raymond; daughter, Retha Corso of Litchfield; 10 grandchildren; sister, Paula Wand of Litchfield; and two brothers, Michael (wife, Kay) Corso of Fayetteville, Ark., and Andrew Corso of Benbrook, Texas.
Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Living Stones Church, Litchfield, Brother Ed Diveley officiating. Burial: Elmwood Cemetery, Litchfield.
