Magdalene Cossar 1878 - 1945
This last Magdalene is my great grandmother who confused me for ages as she called herself Maud Cossar or Dudgeon on my grannys'Marriage Cert.
However the fascinating thing is her death certificate where her fathers' occupation was Gold Miner.Mostly they are plain miners or colliers, but as a Scottish history graduate I can confirm Newbattle was the secret of the fabled gold used by James 1V and VMary of Guise mother of Mary Queen of Scots brought over French Gold miners. Although so far I am only back to Alexander 1622
Considering the proximity of Newbattle with Temple and Rosslyn - of Da Vinci code fame its a fabulous connection. Especially for readers of Laurence Gardiner Bloodline of the Holy Grail to his 6th book The Shadow of Solomon
Best wishes and happy hunting
